Serenity: White Noise for iPhone

The short version

Serenity collects nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDKs, and the app makes no network requests of any kind. It works fully offline. Nothing about you or your device is transmitted anywhere, because there is nowhere for it to go.

What is stored, and where

Serenity saves your preferences so the app opens the way you left it:

which noise texture you last chose
the volume level
whether fade-out is switched on
the sleep timer duration you last set
whether you have seen the first-run tutorial

All of it is written to the app's own private storage on your iPhone, using the system's standard preferences mechanism. It never leaves the device. Nobody — including the developer — can see it.

Deleting the app deletes all of it. There is nothing left behind and nothing to request the deletion of, because no copy was ever made.

Microphone, location, contacts, health

Serenity does not ask for and cannot access any of them. The app plays audio and does not record it. It requests no permissions at all.

Analytics and tracking

None. The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting library, no advertising identifier, and no tracking of any description. It is not part of any advertising network and does not share data with data brokers, because it holds no data to share.

Apple provides the developer with anonymous, aggregated App Store statistics — download counts, and crash reports if you have opted into sharing them in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. That is a feature of the App Store rather than of this app, it is controlled entirely by your own iOS settings, and it identifies nobody.

Children

Serenity is safe for all ages and rated 4+. Since it collects no data whatsoever, it collects no data from children either, and it complies with COPPA by simply having nothing to comply about.

Payment

Any purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Serenity never sees your name, payment details or billing address. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases and no advertising.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes it will be updated on this page, and the date below will change with it. Given that the policy consists mostly of the word "no", substantive changes are unlikely without a substantially different app.
